The Goodfellow student population can use permanent party licensed or affiliated Family Child Care homes to provide child care for their children.

A FCC home uses a specially trained and licensed provider who offers child care for ages 2 weeks to 12 years in their on or off base homes.

"Some families or their children are not ready or meant to be cared for in a large center environment," said Sally A. Fuller, 17th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Services Flight chief. "The FCC home allows for a small, more family-oriented environment, since the provider is limited to six children. This ensures for quality of care and safety, and well-being of the children."

According to a the new Goodfellow FCC home memorandum, the Air Force Child Development Program, which includes FCC homes, child development centers and school-age programs plays a role in supporting mission readiness and increases the retention rate of military members.

Even though students have always been able to use the Air Force Child Development Program, only 1 percent of customers are students. The new memorandum is an effort to reach out to the students with children who do not use the program for fear of fraternization.
