Tops in Blue performed their second concert of their 2014 tour for more than a thousand Goodfellow personnel and San Angelo community members at the Foster Communications Coliseum May 28.

Before the performance, Col. Thomas L. Schmidt, 17th Training Wing Vice Commander, spoke and gave his thanks to Tops in Blue performers for coming to San Angelo.

"If you've never attended a Tops in Blue performance, you are going to be amazed by the talent and abilities of the performers on stage," said Schmidt. "Tops in Blue travels around the globe performing in front of audiences worldwide, and we are just so very excited, happy and honored that they could be here to spend some time with us in San Angelo."

For this year's tour, the band is celebrating 60 years by performing new hits and classics from Bruno Mars, Village People, Daft Punk and more. Tops in Blue is even performing a Beauty and the Beast song and historical patriotic songs.

"I think the performance was just wonderful," said Dwain R. Morrison, San Angelo mayor. "They have such energy and talent, and it makes me proud to be an American."
Once Tops in Blue finished the concert, Schmidt presented Capt. Fenesha L. Friar, Tops in Blue officer in charge, a certificate of appreciation, and then, they visited with the colonel briefly before the performers started tearing down the stage they just performed on.

"I think it took us five to six hours to set up, and it'll take us four to five hours to tear down tonight," said 1st Lt. Alicia K. Wallace, Tops in Blue Public Affairs officer and vocalist. "We have a pretty rigorous schedule, and that's because we have to maintain our forwardness and drive. We have to stay physically and mentally fit for what we do because our stage is 65,000 pounds of equipment. We have to set up our equipment, be ready to perform, make sure our voices are good and remember our entrances and exits, so we have to be on top of our game all the time."

Around 3 a.m. in the morning Tops in Blue finished packing their stage and returned to base to rest before hitting the road again for their next show.
