Congressman Mike Conaway, 11th District of Texas, visited with Goodfellow Air Force Base International Military Student Officers for a meet and greet at the San Angelo Visitor Center Jan. 21.

Congressman Conaway heard the students' preconceptions of America and Texas and how their views have changed.

"I was expecting Texas to be very hot," said Royal Malaysian air force Maj. Mohd Faiz Abdul Jalil. "I didn't think it would get this cold."

Jalil mentioned it was his first time meeting a politician, and he hasn't had this experience in his own country.

"He gave us a lot of moral support," Jalil added. "He told us to learn as much as possible here, so that we can teach others in our country when we return."

Congressman Conaway mentioned to the students that when they come here to train and when Americans go to their country it makes the world a better place by helping to clear misconceptions and give everyone a better perspective.

At the conclusion of the meet and greet Congressman Conaway thanked everyone for their service to their countries and encouraged them to have a great time in America, and reminded them they are all are working together for a common goal.
