More than 100 Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks fans came together to root for their teams during the 17th Force Support Squadron sponsored Super Bowl XLVIII party at the Event Center Feb.2.

The party gave on-base service members a chance to watch the faceoff and cheer their favored team while fighting the traditional Super Bowl rivalry.

"I think the Broncos are going to win because they can do a great job under pressure," said Army Pfc. Luke Brighan, Army 344th Military Intelligence Battalion student. "They are just the best team."

Even though both sides argued their team's skills, they also praised the other team's abilities.

"The Broncos are a great team," said Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Jarren Enriquez, Navy Center for Information Dominance Detachment student and Seahawks fan. "You don't get to the Super Bowl by not being a good team. If we lose, there will be no shame in losing to Peyton Manning and the Broncos."

Enriquez and other Seahawks fans had little worry about losing to the Broncos, because at the end of the first half the Seahawks were up 22-0.

"The Broncos are not doing so well," said Senior Airman Patrick Eichamer, 17th Medical Group health service journeyman. "I really hope they get it together and start playing better in the second half."

The Broncos fans hopes were dashed however as, the Seahawks ran a kick return for a touchdown on the first play of the third quarter, setting the pace for the rest of the game.

"I'm glad it wasn't a total blow out because the Broncos did manage to score once," said Eichamer. "The Broncos just got themselves in a hole too early in the game and couldn't get out of it. This is the most one-sided Super Bowl I've ever seen."

The Seahawks' fans had a reason to celebrate that night with the final score Seahawks 43 - Broncos 8, and while the Broncos were defeated many of the fans didn't leave the Event Center empty handed. Some left with prizes from the San Angelo Bandits sponsored raffle and all the food they could eat from the buffet style snack line.
