New commanders and spouses get immersed Published Sept. 4, 2013 By Staff Sgt. Laura R. McFarlane 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Team Goodfellow provided a two day commanders' and spouses' immersion seminar Aug. 27 and Aug. 28. The program offered participants an opportunity to familiarize them with some of the programs offered at Goodfellow. The immersion is designed to give commanders and spouses information on the Goodfellow mission, programs in place, and to engage spouses in the Key Spouse program, a group that connects spouses together and builds a sense of Air Force community. Presenters briefed the participants with an overview of the Mission Support Group, the Training Group, their respective squadrons and how they support the wing mission. "It was a good program because it gave a mix of commander perspectives and gave us the tools to help our folks," said Lt. Col. Caeli Hull, 315th Training Squadron Commander. Presenters from the chapel and Airman and Family Readiness Center also briefed the group on the many programs available to spouses and children. "I learned a lot," said Tamara Randall. "It was very informative about what the base provides for military families." The commanders and spouses visited several locations during the two days to include the Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy, the Crossroads Student Center, Taylor Chapel, and the Airman and Family Readiness Center. This is the second year for the immersion program and both Hull and Randall said they believe the program would benefit leaders and spouses and hope to see it in the future.
