17th Training Wing Earns “Excellent” Rating Published Nov. 26, 2013 By 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- On Nov. 25, Air Education and Training Command awarded the 17th Training Wing an "Excellent" rating following a two-week Consolidated Unit Inspection or CUI. The two-week CUI consisted of an evaluation of the wing's 517th Training Group at the Presidio of Monterey, Calif., from Nov. 12 to 15, and all units assigned to Goodfellow Air Force Base, from Nov. 18 to 22. A CUI is one of the single-most significant inspections an installation can undergo and "consolidates" several inspections into one. For the CUI of the 17th Training Wing, these included a Unit Compliance Inspection, Health Services Inspection, Logistics Compliance Assessment Program, and Judge Advocate General Article 6 inspection. These unique inspections are designed to evaluate units on their compliance with established standards, guidelines and procedures, record keeping and a variety of other areas. "This is a great day and I am extremely proud of the men and women assigned to the 17th Training Wing. All of their hard work, attention to detail, and dedication leading up to and during the CUI speaks for itself," said Col. Kimberlee Joos, 17th Training Wing Commander. "This stellar inspection result is a direct reflection of the outstanding day-in, day-out performance of all the military and civilian professionals assigned to this wing." More than 100 AETC inspectors converged on the installation at Goodfellow, examining every aspect of the wing's training mission and support functions and scrutinizing unit programs and processes before tallying the final "excellent" rating for the wing. "The personnel assigned to this wing never cease to amaze me with their work ethic, professionalism, innovative spirit, and attitude," said Joos. "I could not be more pleased with the outcome of this inspection and what it says about our people and the great job they are doing."
