Team Goodfellow and the San Angelo community came together to march, walk and cheer in the Veterans Day Parade in historic downtown San Angelo Nov. 9.

This year's Veterans Day Parade included over 500 active duty military and retirees representing all the service branches, bands from local schools, Angelo State University ROTC, Junior ROTC from the local high schools, Boys and Girls Scout organizations.

Volunteers flooded the streets, passing out miniature American flags, directing traffic and even marching in the flights.

Airman 1st Class Matthew Karnes, 316th Training Squadron student and guidon bearer, volunteered to lead his flight through the parade.

"Volunteering to march in this parade is a good opportunity to thank all those who came before us," said Karnes. "The veterans before me gave me the freedom to live freely in America."

People from all over Concho Valley and the base shook hands and said thank you to the veterans who served in the past and who serve today.
