17 FSS hosts 2nd annual Zombie Run Published Oct. 30, 2013 By Airman 1st Class Breonna Veal 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- 17th Force Support Squadron hosted their 2nd annual Zombie Run on Perimeter Road Oct. 27. Members from Team Goodfellow and their dependents participated in a 3.5 mile run filled with ghoulish obstacles. Before the run, participants were given two flags. Runners had to navigate the entire race without losing their flags to the zombies, played by volunteers from Team Goodfellow, spread throughout the route. Zombies also had to stay 10 feet away from another zombie. "The Zombie Run was fun," said Airman Terell Carter, 315th Training Squadron student and a volunteer zombie. "I had fun with everybody, exercising and getting out of the dorms." Team Goodfellow moulage specialists came out to the race to give the zombies a realistic appearance, which added to the race's goal to celebrate Halloween and provide a morale boost. While some people just came out for the run, others came to play the Zombie role to the hilt and offer spooky excitement to the racers. "I decided to do the Zombie Run because I thought it would be fun to dress up, plus I like the idea of running around being a zombie," said Carter. "After a long period of studying, this is something that I consider a stress reliever," said Carter. After the survivors made it through the finish line, a burger burn was provided for all participants, zombies and humans alike.
