Members from Goodfellow gathered together into multiple group sessions to discuss sexual assault, suicide prevention and Comprehensive Airman Fitness as part of Wingman Day here Oct. 9.

David Sullins, one of the session presenters and leaders, said that the discussions aimed to teach all attendees that they play a vital role in prevention and members must come together.

"This month's mandated Wingman Day sessions focused on sexual assault and suicide prevention as those items relate to the Comprehensive Airman Fitness domains," said Sullins. "Each session was developed as a guided discussion to help emphasize the importance wingmen have in providing personal and community resilience."

CAF's goal is to help Airmen, Air Force civilians and family members become more resilient and better-equipped to deal with challenges they may find in military life. The group discussions were built upon the CAF four pillars of wellbeing: physical, mental, social and spiritual wellness; as well as positive behaviors such as caring, communicating, connecting and celebrating.

"The information provided was delivered as a tie-in with CAF principles to help support the discussions within the small group sessions," said Sullins. "I believe this format helps Defense Department personnel visualize prevention as something we can accomplish on a daily basis and brings focus on wingman concepts in accordance with CAF ideology."

During the presentation, group leaders spoke about each pillar and ways to encourage positive wellness in each. Attendees engaged in discussions on ways to encourage wellbeing and ways to promote prevention of sexual assault and suicide.

"Hopefully, the sessions will help personnel become aware of situations appropriately and react accordingly," said Sullins.
