Military Pay - Our Financial Management leadership received word from Defense Finance and Accounting Service that they have been given authority to pay essentially all pay and allowances, the primary exclusions are Inactive Duty Training activities. The Oct. 15 file was run last night and the payment file will be released to the Federal Reserve Bank for payment on Wed, Oct. 9 and payment will be made on time on Oct. 15. DFAS and Air Force Senior Leadership is briefed regularly to ensure that our uniformed members are paid accurately, timely and in full compliance with Pay Our Military Act or POMA.

Civilian Pay - DFAS has also provided assurance that civilian pay, for the period starting Oct. 6 and going forward, will be on time. This applies only to civilians in a pay status (no longer on furlough or other leave without pay status).

For Leave and Earning slips issued today, a large number of our excepted civilian employees will not have the proper amount of pay. Some may realize significant reductions. We're working hard to have this corrected in the next pay check. The very limited time between Office of the Secretary of Defense guidance that we could pay our excepted civilians and the final interfaces for this pay period caused the problem. We've prepare detailed instructions to review time cards and make corrections. Instructions should be ready for transmission later today. FM will ensure Time & Attendance systems are open and certification requirements are active; employees will have the current pay period to make retro corrections to their T&A. Finally, DFAS will process payroll on Oct. 21 and employees should receive their correct pay for last week in the paycheck distributed on Oct. 25.

We'll continue to provide updates as we get them.
