The military lifestyle pace can encourage individuals to eat on the run, which can lead to missed opportunities for families to sit down and enjoy a meal together and build a stronger relationship. Family meal times also offer the opportunity to teach children portion control, basic cooking skills and are an opportunity to try new foods. Here are a few tips on how to spend more time eating together: · Plan ahead, cook extra portions and freeze until ready to use · Keep meals simple · Pick out recipes together · Get children involved in the meal making process · Commit to a set time of the day For more information contact the Health and Wellness Center at 325-654-5686.
