The Navy Center for Information Dominance Detachment held a Navy Chief induction ceremony for five of their sailors at the Event Center Sept. 13.

Chief Petty Officer Jason Ayres, Chief Petty Officer Andres Bonilla, Chief Petty Officer Jeffery McConn, Chief Petty Officer Thomas O'Brien and Chief Petty Officer Taylor White were each selected to pin on one of the hardest naval ranks to achieve.

"Making E-7 in the Navy is a big deal," said Chief Petty Officer CJ Yoakum.

For the new chiefs, the ceremony marked the culmination of a career-long journey and the end of a rigorous six-week induction process designed to instill in them the fundamentals of what Navy chief's call deck-plate leadership.

This deck-plate leadership is described in the Navy as visible leaders who set the tone, know the mission, know their people and develop their people beyond their own expectations as a team and as individuals.

"Making chief is the greatest accomplishment of my career," said White. "Having my son Connor here made it one of the proudest days of my life."

The newly selected chiefs have now taken a creed honoring that they will provide this type of leadership to their subordinates.
