Team Goodfellow held its Fill-A-Backpack distribution drive Aug. 13 at the Youth Center.

"We've received 45 backpacks filled with school supplies and we are continuing to receive donations," said Angela Green, Goodfellow School Liaison Specialist. "There are more backpacks than families to donate them to."

The Goodfellow School Liaison office kicked off its new Fill-A-Backpack Program July 15 to provide backpacks full of school supplies to local military and community children in need. This August they began distributing the backpacks to children heading back to school.

"The program can benefit lower ranking military families with several small children or those families affected by the furlough," said Green. "It can help take the pressure off those families while helping us promote education."

Several squadrons, private organizations, offices and individuals donated backpacks to the program.
