The 17th Medical Group hosted a free sports physicals and health fair at the Ross Medical Clinic, Aug. 8.

The 17th MDG provided the sports physical to all students in seventh through twelfth grades and had several groups teaching them how to stay safe while playing sports.

"We're providing information to the general public about health concerns and needs," said Senior Airman Patrick Eichamer, 17th MDG health service journeyman. "All the groups that came out to the health fair can provide a particular service to the public."

Some of the groups who came out were the Health and Wellness Center, Physical Health, and Public Health and gave helpful health tips.

"Before you go into a pool, you should shower and use soap, do you know why?" Staff Sgt. Theresia Anderson, 17th Public Health NCO in charge, questioned one of the swimmers at the Public Health table. "There are a lot of germs on your body that you are introducing to the pool and other people can get sick off of that. That's also why it's good when you get out to rinse off."

The sports physicals are necessary for participation in the 2013 and 2014 sporting activities.
