The 17th Civil Engineers squadron will host a Texas Office of Public Utility presentation at the Event Center July 25 beginning at 3 p.m.

Unlike some states, Texas residents can choose their power company. This presentation will provide electricity consumers information on how to choose an electric company and how to interpret their electric bill.

"Texas has deregulated the electricity market which means that individuals can select their own electricity provider," said Mary Lumsdon, 17th Civil Engineer Squadron base energy manager. "This market can be confusing and the program will help educate personnel on how to select a provider for their homes."

Along with information on selecting a provider, the presentation will also inform attendees on legislature bills protecting renters from disconnection and how to deal with a provider during a deployment or change of station.

This event is open to all military, DoD civilians and retirees who purchase electricity. Goodfellow housing residents do not need to attend because they are not able to select their electricity providers.
