Maj. Gen. Mark A. Brown, Second Air Force Commander, visited Goodfellow April 7 and 8, and presented three 2014 Second Air Force level awards to base winners.

To bestow the first award, Maj. Gen. Brown traveled to the 17th Security Forces Squadron and presented the 2014 Airman of the Year award to Senior Airman Steven J. Rock, 17th SFS trainer.

"I wouldn't have been able to get here without the support of my supervisor," said Rock. "He always pushed me forward. Really the possibilities have been endless for me."

After meeting Rock, Maj. Gen. Brown awarded Donna L. Casey, 17th Training Wing Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, the 2014 Civilian (Supervisory Category II) of the Year award.

"We couldn't be more proud of what you are doing, in conjunction with your folks out at [Presidio of Monterey]," said Maj. Gen. Brown. "This is our model program."

The Second Air Force Commander presented the final award, 2014 Honor Guard Program Manager of the Year, to Staff Sgt. Albert L. Hetrick, 312th Training Squadron Honor Guard NCO in charge.

"When you think about it, you get to work with someone who made one heck of a cut," said Maj. Gen. Brown to the honor guard members in attendance. "It's something to be the best in Second Air Force, when you think about how much competition you had out of all the wings."

Hetrick also went on to win the 2014 Air Education and Training Command Honor Guard Program Manager of the Year.
