San Angelo Community leaders and Goodfellow Air Force Base leaders met to discuss the Air Force Community Partnership Program for current and future partnerships, Sept. 3.

The Goodfellow Community Partnership Initiative exists to solidify and explore ways in which Goodfellow can enhance public trust and support to the local community through partnership opportunities that strengthen the base mission and effectiveness.

“Every single one of us knows that we are your military,” said Col. Michael L. Downs, 17th Training Wing Commander. “We are part of the San Angelo community so we are excited to work with our community and partner on initiatives that achieve mutual value and benefit.”

Along with refreshing and exploring old ideas, the leaders discussed new programs and modifications to existing ones.

“We came together to refresh our partnership program,” said Lt. Col. Ryan Vetter, 17th Training Wing Mission Support Group Deputy Commander. “The goal is to continue working on our current initiatives for success and to brain storm fresh partnership ideas.”

The GCPI constantly seeks to better community relations with San Angelo and its leaders to not only ensure mission success and effectiveness for Goodfellow, but for all branches of services.
