GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Goodfellow Air Force Base and the San Angelo community celebrated the 21st Annual Armydillo Run at the Spring Creek Marina at Lake Nasworthy, San Angelo, Texas, Sept. 26.
“There were a total of 182 registered runners and another 30 volunteers that helped put the event on,” said Sgt. 1st Class Eric M. Murray, 344th Military Intelligence Battalion platoon sergeant.
Participants ranged from ages 13 to 70 years old for the 10K. Some men and women ran with a rucksack or a weighted vest.
The 10K ran a loop all the way to the reservoir and came back to the finish line near parking. Participants were directed with white arrows pointing the way along the trails around Lake Nasworthy.
Five to ten minutes after the 10K had started, the 1-mile Fun Run began including children, runners with pets on leashes and mothers pushing two-person strollers.
The participants finishing time for both the 10K and 1-mile Fun Run were recorded for the final awards, which included medals for first, second and third place winners of all age ranges.
“It was great to see family members out here running alongside those who answer to the call of duty,” said Army Lt. Col. Jason D. Hallock, 344th Military Intelligence Battalion Commander, “We hope you’ll be back again next year.”
Varied fruits, like bananas and oranges and water were available for participants.
