Goodfellow Air Force Base company grade officers visited the Angelo State University Air Force ROTC Detachment 847 cadets for a mentoring session Oct. 28.

The CGOs taught the college students about different career fields in the Air Force.

"The main purpose of this activity was to mentor these young cadets and prospective second lieutenants with our experiences and orient them with different career field opportunities,” said 2nd Lt. Javier J. Colon, 17th Training Support Squadron system administration officer in charge. “It's extremely important getting involved in this type of activity not only because we are giving back to the amazing community of San Angelo and Angelo State University, but also because these cadets are the future leaders of our United States Air Force.”

Cadet Todd Duquette, ASU Air Force ROTC Detachment 847 student, said he was grateful to hear from the CGOs.

“I’m thankful that we have such a strong tie with the base here,” said Duquette. “However you put it, the information is pretty invaluable. Getting to talk about the experiences other individuals have had, you get to learn from that.”

Goodfellow CGOs plan to continue the mentoring program with future cadets.
