U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Joan Olmo-Ortiz, 315th Training Squadron student, is the newest 17th Training Group Student of the Month Spotlight, a series highlighting Team Goodfellow students.

17th Training Wing Public Affairs: What led you to join the military?

Olmo-Ortiz: I had a big interest in international relations and the intel field.

What has been the most impactful moment in your career so far?

The first night I got to basic training and feeling that transition from my regular life to military life.

What are your hobbies?

I like reading, going out with friends and exploring.

What do you want to accomplish during your time here at Goodfellow Air Force Base?

To become the best vision of myself as a student and as an Airman.

Is there any advice or anything extra you would like to share?

I say focus on what you want to get and accomplish and that sometimes you have to give up the nice things to get the job done.
