Commanders and senior enlisted leaders spent part of their Thanksgiving Day serving retirees, service members and dependents holiday meals at Western Winds Dining Facility Nov. 26.

Leadership served the meals to show support for the individuals who spent their Thanksgiving away from home.

“I am thankful to have this opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving with team Goodfellow,” said Col. Michael L. Downs, 17th Training Wing Commander. “I think it’s important to let service members know we consider them a part of our family this holiday, because I know that for many of them it is their first Thanksgiving away from home.”

Airman Tyler J. Gomes, 316th Training Squadron, said he appreciated the Thanksgiving meal.

“This is my first Thanksgiving away from home, but I’m enjoying the food,” said Gomes. “I think it was really cool that my leadership came out, because they could’ve just stayed home.”

Goodfellow leadership provides this Thanksgiving meal annually to boost holiday morale.
