Heroes Parade marches through Sante Fe Park Published Dec. 11, 2015 By Airman 1st Class Caelynn Ferguson 17th Training Wing Public Affairs SAN ANGELO, Texas -- Goodfellow Air Force Base service members marched during the Heroes Parade to honor Wounded Warriors in Sante Fe Park, Dec. 10.“A group of 24 veterans from around the U.S. are in San Angelo for the opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy a weekend of deer hunting and camaraderie,” said Senior Master Sgt. Brian Mailloux, 17th Comptroller Squadron superintendent. “This is a chance to show appreciation to our wounded soldiers by bringing them to our community to show them we support them and are grateful for the sacrifices they and their families have made.”The parade included military formations from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force. It also included cheerleaders and marching bands from local schools.Service members escorted the Wounded Warriors on golf carts through the parade. Each Wounded Warrior’s golf cart had his name and his branch of military was identified by the branch of service of the escort. After the parade, the Wounded Warriors went to volunteer ranches for hunting sessions with the community.“I think it’s been a wonderful day,” said Dwain Morrison, San Angelo mayor. “Our bands, our kids, our ROTC, our drill squadrons have all come out to honor the guys that have given for us. I’m so proud of my community.”
