The 17th Training Wing hosted a party at the Event Center to officially kick off Make Goodfellow Great, an initiative to bolster social interaction between Goodfellow members Jan. 14.

Make Goodfellow Great is a collection of social clubs that Goodfellow members created, military and civilian alike. These clubs intend to bring the base community together, build professional relationships and alleviate the conglomerate view of having nothing to do on base.

“It’s not affiliated with the Air Force clubs,” said Master Sgt. Christopher J. Francis, 17th Contracting Squadron base infrastructure flight NCO in charge and MGG program coordinator. “It’s something we own ourselves to professionally enhance each other as Airmen, NCOs and officers, and to make our experience here at Goodfellow better.”

A young Airman had nothing but positive things to say about the new initiative.

“I think it gets people involved with the community,” said Airman 1st Class Casey N. Vaughan, 17th Medical Operations Squadron mental health technician. “I think it gets people involved with their co-workers outside of work. It’s a great opportunity for everyone on base.”

Over 1,000 service members and civilians attended the kick-off party. After the party, 30 plus clubs emerged from the MGG program.

“We have marksmanship, hunting, mommy boot camp, video game design… if you have an interest, we have it, and if we don’t have it, individuals can make a club of their own interest,” said Francis.
