For the month of April, Goodfellow is hosting six events to raise sexual assault awareness, end sexual discrimination and dispel myths surrounding sexual assault.

“Setting aside a whole month to learn about sexual assault creates a better understanding of victims,” said Senior Airman Ryan F. Hacker, 17th Communications Squadron software engineer.

The events planned for April include:

• April 1 – Post signs on troop walk and gate send-off.

• April 3 and 17 - Cup of Prevention.

• April 4 and 18 at 11:00-13:00 - Chalk the Walk/Wheel.
o Write or draw messages about how to prevent sexual assault and how sexual assault has impacted someone you know.

• April 10 and 24 - Traveling Clothesline.
o A traveling display of t-shirts and jeans that have been decorated by survivors of sexual assault.

• April 26 - Teal Rope and Victim Advocate Appreciation Day

• April 30 - 6th Annual Sexual Assault and Response Coordinator Challenge
o Two person teams compete in a race around base to solve clues and complete obstacles and challenges, while learning about Sexual Assault Prevention and Response. To register, call the SAPR office at 325-654-1571.

The goal for the month is to provide an engaging environment to learn about sexual assault and how to stop it before it happens.

“We just need to support each other,” said Donna L. Casey, 17th Training Wing SARC. “There are victims around us, and sexual assault is not a joking matter.”
