Special operations Airmen from Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., arrived on Goodfellow in a CV-22 Osprey to share their operational experience with the intelligence students May 13.

“We all trained here, and we came back to show the students what the Air Force is like after training,” said Capt. Matthew Stalford, 56th Special Operations Intelligence Squadron assistant operations officer. “It’s a pretty unique aircraft. The CV-22 Osprey is a tiltrotor aircraft, meaning it can take off and land like a helicopter, but get the range and speed of a fixed-wing aircraft.”

Once the Osprey landed, students toured the aircraft.

“It’s awesome. It’s definitely my coolest experience since being in the Air Force,” said Airman 1st Class Taylor Lange, 316th Training Squadron student. “The technical capability to turn from a plane into a helicopter like that, it’s definitely something I won’t forget any time soon.”

The 56th SOIS Airmen answered questions from the intelligence students about life in the operational Air Force. Some expressed excitement for what their career will bring them.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the accomplishments of my work, just being able to see that I make a difference and just to help the United States of America,” said Lange.
