San Angelo will celebrate National Police Week by hosting the 2016 Texas Police Games June 12 to 18. “It’s where we honor all our fallen police officers, future, present, past,” said Senior Airman Rayon Miller, 17th SFS combat arms instructor. “It’s a week of remembrance. We try to give everyone a brief day in the life of an officer. We have a weapons display, some demonstrations and a flag raising ceremony.” Russel Weatherby, 17th SFS Individual Mobilization Augmentee reservist, recalled the names of officers that had fallen in the line of duty. 17th SFS Airmen and local police officers lowered the base flag in their honor. “The meaning of it to us, as security forces members, is that we get to remember our fallen,” said Weatherby. Anyone can participate in Police Week with a simple gesture. “Thank a police officer,” said Rodrigo Hernandez, San Angelo Police Department officer. “Sometimes our job is not very thankful, but all the support we can get helps us tremendously”
