GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Tech. Sgt. Christopher Olsen, 17th Training Support Squadron functional service desk NCO in charge, interested in helping shape the minds of future Air Force leaders, coordinated a two-day Airmen professional development course at the Consolidated Learning Center July 14 and 15.
“Junior enlisted can come and get a jump start on the profession of arms,” said Olsen. “They can learn how to build their career path and how to be a better supervisor.”
During the two-day course, the participants learned about communication, the enlisted force structure, evaluation performance report writing and more.
“I think this class is awesome, because its taught me about retirement, supervisor responsibilities and feedback,” said Airman Taylor Ross, 17th Security Forces Squadron installation entry controller. “I encourage younger Airmen to take this class because it highlights things that they’ll have to look forward to in their career.”
Olsen also used the class as a way to push mentorship to the junior Airmen.
“There is a lot of talk about mentorship, and how we encourage Airmen to find a mentor,” said Olsen. “The 5/6 Council and myself are trying to work the other way also. We are going out to mentor.”
The 5/6 council is the NCO level professional club at Goodfellow.
