May 11 marks the first day of National Police Week, a week dedicated to local and military law enforcement members celebrated across the U.S. and by Goodfellow through various events May 11 to May 15.

This year's events for Police Week are as followed:

May 11 - Drunk Driver Course: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Commissary parking lot
The drunk driving course is an educational tool that simulates the realities of driving under the influence.

May 12 - Jail and Bail, K9, CATM Weapons and Drug display, Finger printing for children: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Bx/Commissary sidewalk and the Child Development Center
Jail and Bail: A security forces volunteer places a subject under arrest and transports him or her to a mock jailhouse. Prisoner must post bail to avoid public jail sentence or endure the harsh luxuries of their sentence.
Weapons Display: Security forces combat arms will display weapons used by security forces. Providing hands on demonstrations and explanation of weapons systems.
Drug Display: Educational display of drugs for public awareness.
Finger printing for children: Fingerprinting process will be displayed for parents and children. Parents have the option of having the fingerprints entered into the FBI's database for children aiding in the location of missing, abducted and runaway children.

May 15 - Retreat Ceremony: 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Guest speaker Tim Vasquez, San Angelo Chief of Police, will give a speech after an introduction and prayer at the base flag pole. Security Forces will conduct a formal retreat followed by the playing of taps and closing ceremonies.
