Col. Michael Downs, 17th Training Wing Commander, participated in Goodfellow Fire Marshall training along with Civil Engineering Commanders from across the nation Aug. 2 through the 4, at the Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy.

Downs participated in the course to gain a better understanding of what students in training go through and to meet civil engineer squadron commanders participating in the course.

The training included firefighting gear drills, rappelling from a three story building, crawling through confined space trainers in full firefighting ensemble, firefighting vehicle operations and three full duty days of classroom training for key skills and knowledge to become a certified Fire Marshall.
