The 17th Force Support Squadron hosted the Ruckus at the Rec Camp at the Goodfellow Air Force Base Recreation Camp Sept. 24.

The Ruckus was a combination of the Annual Armed Forces Chili-Off, the Annual Car and Bike show and finished with a concert.

“I think the event is great,” said Shandy Scott, 17th FSS, event coordinator. “We have some great cooks out here.”

The competition included categories for teams and individuals in the Terlingua, chicken, ribs, beans or "anything goes" categories. The top three Terlingua winners earned a place to compete in the Original International Championship Chili Cook-Off in Terlingua, Texas.

“I feel great about winning,” said John Pecorino, Terlingua 2016 1st place winner. “I decided to cook chili without any noticeable peppers, onions or anything like that. I cooked up a batch and I won.”

The Annual Car and Bike show featured vehicles from the early 1900’s to the present.

This year we had Horney Mike and Ryan Evans, television car mechanics, here to answer questions, give advice, and present awards for their favorite cars, said Scott.

The Ruckus at the Rec Camp was open to the public as well as Goodfellow members.

“The relationship Goodfellow has with the community is good, but this makes it better,” said Scott.
