GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --
The 17th Training Wing Sexual Assault Prevention and Response office hosted the 5K SAPR Color Run at the Kiowa Trail Oct. 8.
“The main purpose of the run is to bring people together to support the SAPR message, the importance of being active bystanders and to take care of each other,” said Donna Casey, 17th TRW Sexual Assault Response Coordinator.
The SAPR office recorded a total of 175 participants that signed in on the day of the run. Each participant that signed in received a free white SAPR t-shirt for the Color Run.
The participants warmed up as a group and threw color in the air for a ‘color explosion’ to kick off the run. Volunteers throughout the trail threw color at the runners as they passed by for extra color to the runners’ white SAPR shirts.
At the end of the run, SAPR held a competition for children as well as adults for who had the most color and spirit.
Participants from every unit and every branch on base participated in the run, dependents included.
“It was fantastic, the weather was great,” said Tech. Sgt. Joseph Baugh, 17th Force Support Squadron airman leadership school instructor. “[There was] a lot of good energy. Everyone was having fun for a very good cause.”
