Ghoulfellow haunts Goodfellow Published Nov. 1, 2016 By Airman 1st Class Randall Moose 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 17th Force Support Squadron hosted Ghoulfellow, an event to celebrate Halloween, at the Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy training pad, base theater and the Event Center, Oct. 28.“I believe we hit the mark in terms of offering up a wide variety of activities for our community to enjoy to include a haunted house, children's carnival, costume contests and much more,” said Staff Sgt. John Valdez, 312th Training Squadron fire officer instructor. “The event was enjoyed by nearly 400 base personnel and family and received phenomenal feedback.”According to Shandy Scott, 17th FSS event coordinator, this year’s theme was a simulated purge, the idea that there is one day a year in which all crime is legal.“I thought the purge 5k was fun,” said Airman Nicholas Trackwell, 312th TRS student. “I ran with three fellow Airmen. Without them I wouldn’t have made it. My strategy was to use them as shields to out run the attackers.”The purge 5k featured volunteers in costume who would attempt to grab flags that each runner carried. The runners with the fastest time and the most flags would win the race.“I believe the Ghoulfellow event went great,” said Valdez. “We had a great group of motivated volunteers that made it all possible.”
