Happy Thanksgiving! Published Nov. 26, 2008 By Maj. General Alfred Flowers 2nd Air Force commander KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Team Second Air Force Thanksgiving is the time of year when we gather with our friends and families to pause and appreciate all we have to be thankful for in this great country of ours. The many blessings we enjoy come with a great responsibility the men and women of the Second Air Force are glad to carry. Your desire to serve as freedom's champions and stand against the tide of terror and aggression that threaten our way of life attests to your character and love of country. Whether Thanksgiving finds you at your home station or deployed in a distant corner of the world, your service to the country is something we are grateful for. As commander of Second Air Force, allow me to offer my own heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all you do. I am humbled by the daily sacrifices made by the thousands of Airmen in Second Air Force, and thankful our nation continues to produce men and women of the highest caliber such as yourselves. This Thanksgiving holiday let us be mindful of those families who have someone standing point at one of our remote outposts around the globe, protecting all we hold dear. Let us be sure to keep those who are not with us in our prayers, and include those members of our Air Force family who are left behind in our holiday plans. I close by asking that we all be very careful over this holiday weekend. As one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, there is no need to hurry to get where you are going. Plan ahead, leave with plenty of time and take it easy on the roadways. We need everyone in Second Air Force to return from their holiday safely--we have much to do, and need your help. To all the men and women of the Second Air Force, thanks for your service. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
