The Goodfellow Air Force Base Community Appreciation Day and 32nd Annual Santa's Market and was held at the Louis F. Garland Fire Academy High Bay here Nov. 17.

The event was open to the public at no cost for admission.

The Arts and Crafts Center presented the Santa's Market this year which featured more than 170 vendors from the surrounding area, selling a variety of goods and products. Special activities included a visit from Santa Claus. Children were able to visit with Santa Claus and have their photo taken with him.

Along with Santa's Market, Goodfellow also was able to hold a Community Appreciation Day. For Community Appreciation Day, the base welcomed all members from the San Angelo community to come on base and learn a little about what happens on base as far as training and more.

Within the High Bay, several displays and artifacts from different groups on base were setup for all attendees to see. The international military student officers, Joint Language Resource Center, and the Air Force ROTC Detachment 487 were some of the many groups to set up a display.

A drill competition, martial arts, military working dog demonstration, Rappelling demonstration and much more were also featured at the Community Appreciation Day.

"I believe that the Community Appreciation Day showed us good snapshot and look into what the military life is all about," said David Webber, Santa's Market and Community Appreciation day attendee. "Everything from training, military martial arts, to drill, to the firefighter training they demonstrated was all just amazing. We see the sacrifices, such as being away from family and friends, and all the things that they do for this community; we can see it through this event."
