Retired Air Force Col. J. Robert Adams volunteered to become the new Retiree Activities Office Director and provides office hours 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Friday.

The RAO can provide various benefits or referrals to local retired service members.

According to the RAO's charter, the office's purpose is to, "coordinate, establish and staff an office on an active-duty, reserve or guard base through command channels that will assist retirees with services such as providing information on space-available travel, TRICARE and base services. The RAO also offers referrals for financial-assistance and pay matters, counseling for active-duty Airmen nearing retirement and provides literature on retirement issues."

Adams spent 30 years in the Air Force, retiring as the Air Education and Training Command comptroller, and spent 12 years as the Veteran Affairs finance center Deputy Director.

With his years of experience, Adams said he believes it will help him as the RAO Director.

"As a retiree I can have a feel of what retirees needs are," he said. "I'll be visiting the provider organizations over the next couple of months to talk to them about their services that they offer to retirees and veterans."

For more information or assistance, contact the RAO at 325-654-4462 or visit the Norma Brown building room 119E.
