U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Zachery Dunkin, 316th Training Squadron student, is the Goodfellow Student of the Month Spotlight for September, a series highlighting exceptional Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines.

What led you to join the military?

It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I don’t have a lot of family in the military, but those that have been in the military always said it was the greatest experience of their life. I wanted to see what it was like.

What has been the most impactful moment in your career so far?

Basic Military Training graduation. Seeing everyone’s family there, and everyone so excited to be there. To finally get through one of the harder parts and see the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak.

What are your hobbies?

I like to watch movies. I go every weekend with my buddies. I like to go hiking as well.

What do you want to accomplish during your time here at Goodfellow Air Force Base?

Just be all that I can be. Do as well as I can to help others.

Is there any advice or anything extra you would like to share?

Never give up. If you see a setback, take it as an opportunity to do something great.
