GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -The name of Chief Master Sgt. Richard “Dick” Etchberger is sandblasted into the POW/MIA Memorial here Sept. 16. Chief Etchberger was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his action on March 11, 1968, when he single-handedly held off an enemy attack on Mount Phou Pha Thia at Lima Site 85 only to be fatally wounded as he was being evacuated.
