Into the Wild Blue Yonder at Goodfellow’s Air Fiesta ‘08

The United States Air Force Thunderbirds fly by in a diamond pass in review during Air Fiesta ’08 March 15, as the moon rises behind them over San Angelo Regional Airport Mathis Field in San Angelo, Texas. Piloting the four-ship formation of F-16 Fighting Falcons are Lt. Col. Greg Thomas (Thunderbird 1, lead), Maj. Chris Austin (Thunderbird 2, left wing), Maj. Kirby Ensser (Thunderbird 3, right wing) and Maj. Scott Poteet (Thunderbird 4, slot). Two additional pilots, Maj. Samantha Weeks and Maj. T. Dyon Douglas, fly lead and opposing solo, respectively, and six additional officers and 113 enlisted Airmen round out the team. The Thunderbirds, headquartered at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., are the Air Force’s premier aerial demonstration team, and Air Fiesta ‘08 marks their first air show in the 2008 season.
