Purpose Statement: Strengthening Alliances Through Shared Intelligence Expertise.
Organization: The International Intelligence Training Center (IITC) is a specialized training element within the 313th Training Squadron, part of the 17th Training Group at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. Our staff consists of expert U.S. Air Force instructors, from various intelligence career fields. The IITC operates out of a facility with four classrooms. In 2017, IITC established its Exercise Operations Center to simulate realistic, real-world operations environments. We develop and execute training for analysis, targeting, and ISR operations for intelligence warfighters and officers from over 80 partner nations.
The Goodfellow Experience: We believe in a holistic approach to integration that strengthens ties and improves security cooperation among future global leaders. Our students are integrated through:
Academics: A fully integrated learning environment featuring active learning, student panels, and thirteen capstone-style exercises.
Base Life: Students are encouraged to participate in base intramurals, sports days, morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) activities, and other student-hosted events to foster international exchange.
Community Involvement: We partner with the local community to offer experiences such as the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo, performing arts, city symphony, and Angelo State University events.
Courses Offered:
International Intelligence Applications Officer Course (IIAOC): The IITC's flagship course is modeled on the USAF Intelligence Officer course and prepares international partners to work with the U.S. in missions across the range of military operations.
Scope of Training: The curriculum provides instruction on critical thinking fundamentals, the U.S. intelligence community, military structure, adversarial threats, ISR operations, and operational planning. It emphasizes active learning through thirteen integrated practical exercises that culminate in a final capstone, all tracked to show student progression.
Length: 62 academic days (~3 months)
Frequency: Three classes annually
Target Audience: Junior officers and enlisted personnel from partner nations.
Highlights: The IIAOC capstone was the first IITC exercise to integrate simulated Full Motion Video (FMV), a Common Operating Picture (COP), and automated message traffic to replicate a realistic coalition operations environment.
Students participate in integration events with USAF students and community members, including a Field Studies Program visiting historical sites across Texas to explore American military and civilian legacy.
International ISR Operations Course (IIROC): This course provides students with in-depth knowledge of ISR concepts of operations and theater planning, preparing them for collection management positions.
Scope of Training: Instruction covers ISR fundamentals, intelligence disciplines, the basis for an ISR campaign, Air Operations Center functions, ISR roles and responsibilities, distributed operations, and sensor tasking. The course culminates in a capstone exercise requiring the application of these principles.
Length: 14 academic days (~3 weeks)
Frequency: Typically, two classes per year (or as required)
Target Audience: Partner Nation Intelligence Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs).
Prerequisites: This is advertised as a follow-on course to IIAOC; however, the requirement may be waived for students with a basic intelligence background on a case-by-case basis.
International Targeting Course (ITC): The ITC trains international partners with the knowledge and skills necessary to function as a productive member of a targeting team in a coalition environment.
Scope of Training: The course focuses on the Joint Targeting Cycle and includes instruction on intelligence disciplines, the Air Operations Center, target development, capabilities analysis, mission planning, and combat assessment. Students use Google Earth and the SOCET GXP Electronic Light Table for hands-on training.
Length: 14 academic days (~3 weeks)
Frequency: Typically, two classes per year (or as required)
Target Audience: Partner Nation Intelligence Officers, NCOs, or equivalent civilian personnel.
Highlights: The course is hosted in the 17th Training Wing’s only unclassified 3-D target coordinate mensuration laboratory.
Prerequisites: This is advertised as a follow-on course to IIAOC; however, the requirement may be waived for students with a basic intelligence background on a case-by-case basis. Instruction is typically taught by a U.S. Air Force 1N8 Target Analyst to ensure the highest level of expertise is provided to students.
Tailored Courses & Mobile Training: The IITC may sometimes have flexibility to provide tailored courses and mobile training teams (MTTs) to meet specific partner nation requirements. Authorization for this is dependent upon instructor manning and course scheduling.
