Motorcycle safety

GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas—Staff Sgt. Billy Pratt, 315th Training Squadron geospatial targeting course instructor, demonstrates the proper wear of personal protective equipment during a 17th Training Wing motorcycle safety representatives meeting here March 15. The Air Force requires motorcycle riders, including all Air Force military personnel and Air Force civilians in some situations, wear specific pieces of PPE including a helmet properly fastened under the chin; a full face shield or eye protection, such as impact-resistant goggles; long trousers; a long sleeved shirt or jacket; full-fingered gloves or mittens; sturdy, over-the-ankle footwear; a high-visibility garment, such as a fluorescent yellow-green vest, during the day; and a retro-reflective upper garment during the night.
