The local community and Team Goodfellow came together for the annual San Angelo Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the McNease Convention Center March 21.

The luncheon began with a meal followed by commercials from Chamber of Commerce sponsors to support businesses in and around San Angelo.

During the luncheon, the Chamber of Commerce gave attendees the opportunity to hear and see what goes on at the base.

“The 17th Training Wing won the Air Education and Training Command innovation challenge and received 60,000 to fund additional innovative ideas,” said Dr. Carol Bonds, Texas Military Preparedness Commission member. “It had 27 innovative ideas from the Airmen.”

The luncheon also featured a speech from U.S. Air Force Col. Michael Downs, 17th Training Wing Commander.

“Coming to the chamber luncheon is one of our favorite events because we’re surrounded by amazing friends that we’ve had the privilege of spending the past couple years with,” said Downs. “You fall in love with a place because of its people and San Angelo is unique and one of a kind.”

Downs then recognized outstanding Airmen from Goodfellow for their contributions to the Air Force and the San Angelo community.
