NEWCOMERS ORIENTATION & CITY TOUR

Base Newcomer’s Orientation

As part of your in-processing, your Commander’s Support Staff (CSS) will schedule you for Base Newcomer’s Orientation.  Base Newcomer’s Orientation is mandatory for permanent party active duty Air Force personnel and DoD civilian government employees; with spouses highly encouraged to attend.  Newcomer’s Orientation is held on scheduled Wednesday’s at the Airman & Family Readiness Center, building #145, and runs from 0730 to 1600.  Orientations are held once a month, with two orientations held each month during June to August.   Additionally, after the morning briefing schedule, there is a windshield and walking tour of the base, which concludes Newcomer’s Orientation.    

 

San Angelo City Tour

In conjunction with Base Newcomer’s Orientation, and to help you familiarize yourself with the incredible San Angelo community; your Commander’s Support Staff (CSS) will schedule you for the San Angelo City Tour.  The San Angelo City Tour is mandatory for permanent party active duty Air Force personnel, and we strongly encourage spouses and DoD civilian government employees to attend.  The San Angelo City Tour will take place the day after Base Newcomer’s Orientation and occurs once a month, with two tours held each month during June to August.  The City Tour begins at 0900 on scheduled Thursday’s and departs from the San Angelo Visitor Center located at 418 W Ave B.  The tour lasts approximately three hours and concludes with an optional lunch at one of several local restaurants.  Stops along the tour include: Concho River at the Visitor Center, Fort Concho, Cactus Hotel, San Angelo Art Museum, walking tour of downtown businesses, and the Chicken Art Farm.  To sign-up for the San Angelo City Tour, contact the Airman & Family Readiness Center at (325) 654-3893.
