COVID-19 Testing: What does TRICARE cover?

Coronavirus Testing Coverage

TRICARE covers COVID-19 tests when medically necessary. Medically necessary means it is appropriate, reasonable, and adequate for your condition. A TRICARE-authorized provider must order the test and must perform the test at a TRICARE-authorized lab of facility.

 

What types of testing does TRICARE cover?

COVID-19 tests for active duty service members as required for mission readiness and deployment.

 

What types of testing does TRICARE NOT cover?

Personal travel to other states or countries.

The COVID-19 vaccine will soon be available to all TRICARE beneficiaries. The Department of Defense (DoD), in collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services, has launched a program to provide COVID-19 vaccines to service members, retirees, and their families. Under this program, the DoD will distribute the vaccines through a series of phases.
