GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Team,
We are taking action immediately to make Goodfellow a base of choice for all service members using a phased approach to improve quality of mission and quality of life for students and permanent party members assigned to our team. Specifically to address quality of life, installation leaders met and designed a CONNECT, GROW, and GO based approach to improve life for our dorm residents.
First, we believe that allowing officer students to move off base to further integrate into our awesome San Angelo community is a crucial first step. Second, moving permanent party dorm residents into apartment style dorms away from the student dormitories and troop walk. Third, we plan to flow extended stay students into larger dorms outfitted with a full kitchen and a shared common area. This phase was designed to help foster a community based culture of CONNECTion for our dorm residents. Additionally, this approach gives personal GROWth opportunities by giving increased individual responsibility and access to additional amenities for officers, permanent party, and extended stay students. We believe this approach will enhance the transition from student status to operational contributors as students graduate and GO to their next assignments.
These changes will cause some disruption as cascading moves affect current residents who will be relocating to new living accommodations. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your squadron command team, Military Training Leaders, or the Military Housing Office if you have questions or concerns during this transition.
In addition to these changes, installation leaders are partnering with the local community and headquarters agencies to investigate non-traditional housing opportunities and are aggressively pursuing resources to modernize existing dormitories and complete construction of a MILCON pipeline student dormitory project. We are wholeheartedly committed to executing long term solutions to improve quality of life for our whole team.
Connect, Grow, and Go out to do great things for America!
It is my honor to serve,
Naz
